Clinical examination – EXTENDED

The extended clinical examination builds on a simple one and provides a detailed insight into the condition of the organism exposed to effort.

As part of the EXTENDEDclinical examination, the following are available to you:

  • complete anamnestic andclinical examination – the doctor takes a thorough and extensive family and personal history in search of anomalies that could indicate the possibility of the existence of a specific pathology. After taking the anamnesis, a clinical examination is performed, which includes a neurological examination, an examination of the abdomen, spineand extremitytests for the presence of various physiological and pathological types of reflexes
  • psychological assessmentis carried out with questionnaires and in direct interaction with the doctor
  • Resting ECG(electrocardiography)in a number of cases may indicate the existence of some heart pathology, and is useful in assessing heart rate, frequency, axis and the presence of hypertrophy
  • andlaboratory tests[KKS, GUK, liver enzymes, urea, creatinine, urine]all these parameters are used to assess the condition in which the body is currently and in combination with clinical examination may indicate the presence of certain pathological conditions
  • ophthalmological examination – Vision control can be particularly useful as part of a complete medical evaluation, as people with low diopters and visual disturbances are very often unaware of the existence of a deficit. As part of the ophthalmological examination, a clinical examination of the eyes and color discrimination tests are performed
  • dental examination – Dental examination is one of the key items in the examination of athletes – without healthy teeth, there is no sports. This is so for several reasons, but perhaps the most prominent are bacteria from the genus Streptococcus, which inhabit caries-damaged teeth, thus making oral foci of these bacteria. By mechanical processes such as chewing, there is a real possibility of dissemination (scattering) of these foci throughout the bloodstream, and heart valves are particularly susceptible to such damage.
  • ENT examination – Examination of the ear, throat and nose is also important in the medical evaluation of athletes. Examination of the patency of the nasal passages often reveals the existence of their obstruction, which interferes with breathing in exertion and can have a significant effect on the performance of athletes. Chronically inflamed tonsils (tonsils) can also have an effect on sports due to the susceptibility of the body to constant infections.
  • spiroergometry – the gold standard of testing the organism in effort. More about spiroergometryread HERE.
  • hand grip testwith a dynamometerone ofthe most standardized, most researched and the most commonly used tests to assess muscle strength and as such is extremely useful in assessing the condition of the musculoskeletal system. Several studies have correlated age and strength of hand grip – as we enter adulthood, hand grip increases in both sexes and reaches its maximum in the mid-thirties, after which it progressively decreases with age. At the same time, the strength of the hand grip was correlated with bone density (weakened grip may indicate reduced bone density), the mortality rate from any cause in males, and often this parameter is associated with an increased risk of cardiovascular disease, especially in tomboy. Because the test is extremely easy to perform and provides relatively good and reliable data, it is often applied in general practice. The disadvantage of this test is the fact that with it we can objectively assess only the strength of the muscles of the upper extremity, but not the whole body. The test is performed without heating, as heating can increase the grip strength, which will lead to the appearance of artifacts in the measurement and inaccurate data. The test is also excellent for assessing the symmetry of the upper extremity muscles on both sides of the body. Since it is very well researched, often applied and more or less standardized, it can be used with quality in work with recreational athletes, but also in work with athletes.
